If there’s one word that can sum up Alison Ullom’s approach to life, it’s simple—love. Alison was raised to appreciate a life of service and compassion, and those core values of upbringing have followed her throughout her life.
Born in Brownwood and raised in Granbury, Alison grew up heavily involved in the group homes her parents started for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Love abounded in that old farmhouse and Alison recounts many of her fondest memories spent among her friends there. Her first job at fourteen years old earned her five dollars an hour helping teach the residents how to give themselves manicures and pedicures (which mostly meant doing the services herself). She remained active in the group home setting even during her college years, helping with higher-level tasks like laundry, cooking, and cleaning. Her jobs certainly may not have been the most glamorous, but she firmly believes that when service is done with love, it never truly feels like work.
Alison went on to attend college at Abilene Christian University. It was there during the fall of 1998 that she met her true love, Zeb, the man who would later become her husband. But what’s a good love story without a little drama? Zeb and Alison broke up and started lives of their own before finally reconnecting to write their “happily ever after” together. During their time apart, Alison worked to help sort finances for her parents’ growing group home business, learning the ropes as she went along. During this time, she welcomed two beautiful baby boys, Alex and Drew, managing to juggle work and single motherhood with the help of her loving and supportive family. But Zeb and Alison’s fairy tale was only beginning, and with the help of a fairy godmother (who took the form of Facebook), the two reconnected and rekindled their love. They married just a few years later, and the rest is (as they say) history.
Alison loves to say that being a realtor truly is the perfect job. As a hardcore HGTV fan, she appreciates the magic of helping her clients find their dream home. Her innate compassion and love of service makes her so much more than a realtor, it makes her a trusted friend. She is dedicated to helping her clients in every aspect of home ownership—from buying and selling properties and market analysis to renovation ideas and locating trusted contractors. No detail is too big or too small to be overlooked, and Alison simply doesn’t rest until her clients have found more than a house—they’ve found their home. It’s an important distinction made possible by love.
When Alison isn’t working or spending time with her husband and boys (now aged 10 and 11), you might find her catching up and finding inspiration from the latest HGTV episodes, engrossed in the magic of Harry Potter or Percy Jackson books, chronicling her life’s experiences in emailed newsletters to her family and friends, or testing out her newly cultivated “green thumb” in her garden. She has a deep-seated wanderlust and loves to travel abroad whenever afforded the opportunity (a few of her favorite destinations include Colorado, Africa, Scotland, London, Paris, Belize, and Mexico). Alison currently resides with her family in Kyle, a city she knows to have great potential. Wherever life finds her, you can rest assured she’s busy sowing seeds of love to bring beauty to the lives of those around her.
